Slit Score
A slit score is a precision cut applied to a flat honeycomb panel that creates a defined fold line. The cut passes through one facing paper and the honeycomb core, stopping short of the opposite facing — leaving a controlled hinge that folds cleanly to a set angle.
How it works.
The panel is passed through a scoring machine fitted with a precision blade positioned to cut to a controlled depth. The blade slices through the top facing paper and into the core — but leaves the bottom facing paper intact. When the panel is folded against the score, the core cells separate along the cut line and the intact facing paper acts as the hinge, holding the two sections together at the desired angle.
Multiple slit scores can be applied to a single panel to create multi-sided forms. Score positions and spacing are specified by the customer based on the required geometry.

Design considerations.
The intact facing paper becomes the inside surface of the fold.
Multiple parallel scores can be applied to create U-channels, trays, or multi-sided enclosures from a single panel.
Discuss your geometry with us during specification to confirm feasibility.
